Welcome - from the Coupeville Lions Club.  Locally, regionally, nationally and worldwide, we serve the blind, deaf, sick and handicapped.  The Coupeville Lions Club are people of good-will banded together to serve their fellow man in ways which, individually, we could not do alone. It is a cooperative effort.  We share the load so that the load of the less fortunate will be less.  Lions is a service club, not a fraternal, business, social or political organization.  The reward for the work we do is great.  We enjoy the fellowship of some of the finest people in our community.  We are warmed by the thanks of those we help, and we share in the knowledge that we are part of an organization renowned for its leadership in the efforts to address our community’s problems.

Coupeville Mayor Molly Hughes presented to a well attended crowd, the genesis behind each branch of service.  Additionally, the Shifty Sailors sang the armed service song which represented each branch.  Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11th became a national holiday beginning in 1938.
